Uncovering a Classic: 1971 Triumph GT6 Restoration Project

We are thrilled to feature the ongoing restoration of a rare 1971 Triumph GT6, a collector’s gem with a unique backstory. Originally purchased in the early '70s by a new lawyer as a celebration of his accomplishment, this classic sports car remained in the family for decades before finding its way to a new owner. Now, it's getting the care and attention it deserves.

Although the GT6 had been sitting idle for a while, our team managed to get it back on the road quickly, breathing life into its renowned inline-six engine. The exterior needed some attention, and with extensive cutting and polishing, the GT6’s original charm is shining through once again.

This GT6 features a single-stage paint job, known for its susceptibility to fading, but with the application of Poppy's Patina, the finish will be protected and enhanced, preserving its classic appeal. The interior is in relatively good shape, with minor repairs planned for the driver’s seat and center console to ensure comfort and authenticity.

A few bodywork issues remain, due to past repairs that weren’t up to standard. Fortunately, original stamped body panels are available, which will make the restoration more authentic and seamless. With only a few finishing touches left, this Triumph GT6 is nearing completion, making it a valuable find for enthusiasts of British sports cars. The 1971 Triumph GT6 is a rare piece of automotive history with rising collector value, and while it may not be showroom-perfect, it’s very close.
