We’re bringing back the spirit of the 1970s with the restoration of a unique 1979 GMC Vandura, a classic “boogie van” that captures the vibe of an unforgettable era. Originally purchased from a seller in Arden, Manitoba, this Vandura is one of two custom conversion vans originally customized by a company aptly named Vandura.
The Vandura started out as a plain van but was transformed in the 70s into a head-turning “boogie van” with an extended roof, bold fender flares, and a fully finished interior featuring carpeting and large windows. The result was a stylish, comfortable vehicle ready for long road trips and leisurely cruising—an embodiment of the carefree spirit of the era. Now, we’re bringing back that same spirit by embracing its original retro style.
Due to years of wear, the original interior is being stripped and rebuilt with a retro twist. Our plan includes adding a bar, shag carpeting, and other nostalgic touches that revive the van’s original “boogie van” aesthetic. Expect bold colors and a playful atmosphere that stays true to the Vandura’s roots.
This classic cruiser’s hand-painted design will be carefully restored with help from a local airbrush artist, who will seamlessly blend any necessary repairs to preserve the van’s vintage look. We’re dedicated to keeping the character and authenticity of this custom paint job intact, ensuring it stands out as a one-of-a-kind piece on the road.
Under the hood, the Vandura will feature a rebuilt 355 motor, expected to produce around 400 horsepower. It’s not just about appearances—this powerful engine will ensure the Vandura drives as thrillingly as it looks, with performance that complements its bold personality.
